Mary Hopkin was born 3 May 1950, in Pontardawe, Wales. She is best known as one of the first musicians to sign to The Beatles' Apple label and for her 1968 single "Those Were The Days", a Top 10 hit single in both the UK and the U.S. Her next single was "Goodby"in 1969 followed by "Temma Harbor" in 1970. She married Tony Visconti in 1971 and withdrew from the pop music scene to have a family.
