Not much is know about Ennis Lowery singing under the name of Larry Dale. He was born in Wharton, Texas on January 7, 1923, and died in New York City on May 19, 2010. He played with : Paul Williams (& His Orchestra), Big Red McHouston (& His Orchestra), Mickey Baker, Champion Jack Dupree and others The original version of this song was written by song written by Stick McGhee and J. Mayo Williams in 1949 and originally recorded by "Sticks” McGhee & His Buddies. It became an early hit for Atlantic Records, reaching #2 on the US R&B charts. Larry Dale released his version in 1962.
